LAFAYETTE — Al Berard Memorial Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), launched its annual fundraising campaign for 2021 with a variety of sponsorship levels that range from $2,500 to $250. All donations to the Al Berard Memorial Fund are tax deductible and should be made before Dec.

Acadia Parish CFA Philanthropy Award honorees recognized

CROWLEY — Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) and Hancock Whitney Bank announce the 2021 Leaders in Philanthropy Award honorees for Acadia Parish are Dr. Cason and Isabella L. de la Houssaye.
The City of Eunice received the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Circle of Excellence award. The plaque of recognition was presented to Mayor Scott Fontenot by Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful. From left, are Fontenot, David Simpson, Baltakis, and Mark Dupre. Keep Eunice Beautiful won the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Circle of Excellence Award for the fifth year in a row. Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot accepted the plaque to add to the wall of other KLB Circle of Excellence plaques.

Parish president says he is ready to work on land use rules

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard plans to begin work after Thanksgiving on land use rules for the parish. Bellard said he is ready to work on land use regulations or zoning of the parish at Wednesday’s Parish Council meeting.

St. Landry Parish Catholics advance closer to sainthood

Two St. Landry Parish Catholics, Charlene Richard, Auguste “Nonco” Pelafigue, moved closer to sainthood after a vote by U.S. bishops. Bishop Douglas Deshotel of the Lafayette Diocese, told the story of the two Catholics — one from Richard and the other from Arnaudville — at the meeting in Baltimore.
