All of Louisiana will be at some flood risk in spring, experts predict in new outlook

All of Louisiana will be at some level of flood risk this spring, federal meteorologists indicated Thursday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its seasonal outlook this week, and nearly two-thirds of the continental U.S.

NOAA predicts above-normal hurricane season

NOAA issued the scheduled update for its 2017 hurricane season outlook. Forecasters are now predicting a higher likelihood of an above-normal season, and they increased the predicted number of named storms and major hurricanes.

Above-normal Atlantic hurricane season forecast

Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center say the Atlantic could see another above-normal hurricane season this year. Last year produced five land-falling storms, including Matthew that caused $10 billion in damage and killed 34 people in the U.S. and 551 in the Caribbean.
