‘Who let the dogs out,’ 4th annual Parade of Paws parade

The 4th annual Parade of Paws was held Saturday at downtown S. 2nd Street with 53 entries of canines. Dog owners and Mardi Gras clad canines paraded in front of judges and walked down S. 2nd St. to Park Avenue.
First, second and third place winners were announced, with Louisiana Cypress wooden trophies, ribbons and gift certificates from Bark Avenue Pet Spa given to each winner.
First place winner went to Chunk Manuel, a 6-year-old English bulldog. Second place winner trophy went to Captain Pedigo, a male pug breed, Third place went to entry 10 Max, a golden retriever, sporting an alligator on his back.
The Most Creative ribbon was awarded to Clyde Manuel, a basset hound, sporting a purple Mardi Gras cape on his back along with a Mardi Gras crown on his head;
A Cajun Classic ribbon was awarded to entry 37 Bella, a mix breed of Great Pyrenees and Siberian husky, sporting a Mardi Gras rider on her back; and Totally Unpredictable ribbon went to entry 40 Oliver, a boxer.
Cayene Hebert, a poodle, received the Mayor’s Selection ribbon.
Jerica Guillory, organizer of the event added, “All proceeds from entry and registration fees went to the City of Eunice, for bands.”
