Church Point exploded for four runs in the top of the first as the Lady Bears held on for a 9-5 win over the Eunice Lady Cats.
Eunice (7-14. 3-3) travels to Port Barre today as Disitrct 5-3A compeition continues.
Haley Doucet opened with a bunt single, stole second and scored when Morgan Guidry reached on a fielder’s choice.
Jalin Jones walked and Mikayla Dupre then doubled in two more runs.
Dupre later scored on a passed ball to give the Lady Bears a 4-0 advantage.
Jesslyn Reed hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning as the Lady Cats closed the gap to 4-1.
Church Point (13-6, 5-2) added a run in the top of the fourth when Doucet walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch.
The Lady Bears moved ahead, 6-1 in the top of the fifth when Katlyn Higginbotham doubled and stole home when Britni Ray advanced on a missed third strike.
Eunice exploded for four runs in the bottom of the inning to close the gap to 6-5.
Reed singled, Katlyn Joubert reached on a fielder’s choice and both scored on a double by Cassie Thomas.
Destiny Edwards reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a bunt single by Natalie Vidrine.
Amber Arvie singled in Thomas before the inning ended with a runner’s interference call.
Church Point added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, begun when Ray walked and scored on a double by Hannah Bertrand.
Bertrand scored when Doucet reached on an error to give the Lady Bears a four-run cushion.
Eunice threatened in the bottom of the sixth when Joubert walkd and again in the seventh on a bunt by Natalie Vidrine, but neither could score.
