Les “Pe-Te” Johnson, a Eunice native, was honored by the city of Eunice on the 35th anniversary of his KPFT-FM 90.1 program, “Pe-Te’s Cajun Bandstand.”
Johnson started his radio show on KPFT-FM 90.1, a public radio station, in March 1982.
Johnson, 82, is continuing to do the show, which may be picked up in Eunice.
For more than 30 years he owned and operated Pe-Te’s Cajun BBQ House in Houston, a favorite among NASA personnel include astronauts.
Nine tapes and CDs of his broadcast have been taken into space. The resturant’s brisket, beans and rice also traveled into space seven ties, he said.
The proclamation is signed by Mayor Sylvester turner.
