Basketball tournament to feature police, pastors
Leaders Building Leaders Basketball Tournament will feature Eunice pastors and police officers at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Zion Baptist Church’s Dr. J.G. Frank Building, 251 Nimitz St., Eunice.
Admission for children under 12 will be $3 and for $5 for those over 12 years old.
Refreshments will be served.

ECCBC announces summer concert
The ECCBC announces its summer concert, “Then Sings My Soul,” set at 7 p.m. today and Friday at the Liberty Center.
The concert will be presented by Community Choir, Concert Band, Children’s Choir.
There will also be an art exhibit by the Fine Arts Council of Eunice (FACE)
Musical seclections will include: A Disney Silly Sing-Along, Dig a Little Deeper (from The Princess And The Frog), Love is an Open Door (from Frozen), Memory (from Cats), Sabbath Prayer (from Fiddler On The Roof), Then Sings My Soul, The Bare Necessities (from The Jungle Book), Jump In the Line, Nessun Dorma (from Puccini’s Turandot), Precious Lord Take My Hand, Selections from The Phantom of the Opera, Waltz No. 2 (from Shostakovich’s Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra)

EPT presents ‘Red, White & Tuna’
Eunice Player’s Theatre will present “Red, White and Tuna” beginning July 27.
The presentation, by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard will be July 27, July 28, July 29, July 30, and Aug. 2, a dinner theater will be offered; Aug. 4, Aug. 5 and Aug. 6.
The play is directed by Ching Wasmuth and will star Dr. Kevin Miller and Van Reed.
Evening performances begin at 7 p.m., and Saturday performances begin at 2 p.m.

Genealogy society to meet in Lafayette
The Lafayette Genealogical Society meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 20 at the Southside Branch, Lafayette Public Library, 6106 Johnston St., Lafayette. Boy Scout Troop 425 recruitment drive
The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.
The age group being targeted for recruitment are boys aged 11 through 13. Boy Scout Troop 425 is based in Eunice and is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, also in Eunice.

Greater True Light Chorus Aug. 19
The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunnice will celebrate its 16th year Annual Male Chorus Musical on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. service the church will have its 19th annual Brotherhood Men’s Day Service.
The public is invited. The church is located at 341 Anne Street in Eunice.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Joseph Celestine-Rosenwald reunion
The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald 10th biennial school reunion will be held July 21-23 in Mamou at the Celestine Community Center, 222 Hickory St., Mamou, at 7 p.m. July 21 and concluding on July 23 with a morning worship service at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou.

FCWC co-ed softball tourney set Saturday
Faith Christian Worship Center will sponsor a co-ed softball tournament Saturday at the Mamou ball park, 1513 Ortwein Road.
Team entry fee is $225 and there will be prizes for the first and second place teams.
This tournament is a fundraiser to help send FCWC kids to camp.

Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.
