Miles Perret Cancer Services is releasing the 2017 Games of Acadiana commemorative poster, featuring the theme “Play with a Purpose” and created by local student and artist, Cindy Tee.
Games of Acadiana, Miles Perret Cancer Services’ signature fundraising event, has featured a commemorative poster artist since the inception of Games in 2001.
Born in New Orleans but raised in the small town of Folsom, Tee is driven by the gift of the gospel and her love for mankind and the arts; she sees the act of creating as a dance between the three. She strives to create mindful and meaningful work that communicates uniquely and effectively. Tee enjoys hand lettering, pen and ink illustration, and getting her hands dirty. She is studying graphic design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and volunteering her creative abilities at Redeemer City Church, where she is learning to better serve others by meeting creative needs, helping develop ideas, and bringing visions to life.
The original painting can be viewed at Games of Acadiana on Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cajundome lobby. Poster prints will be available for purchase and participants will be able to sign a reprint in memory or in honor of a loved one diagnosed with cancer to be displayed at the Miles Perret office.
Tee said, “It has been a joy and honor to join hands with Miles Perret Cancer Services in creating the 2017 Games of Acadiana poster. Stepping foot into this opportunity, my aim was to create a piece that communicates clearly what the Games of Acadiana is all about, which lead me to the mission, vision, and core values of Miles Perret. In the 2017 poster, Milesy stands before a treasure chest, overflowing with hope, support, healing, faith, and love. These are words that Miles Perret not only cherishes but aspires to share by providing services that help families fight, survive, and live with cancer, at no charge.
Miles Perret Cancer Services is able to lift families up largely by the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, and participants of Games of Acadiana. The treasure within the chest captures what makes up the Games of Acadiana and more so serves as a catalyst for spreading joy, bringing the community together, and changing lives.”
