Open house at EJHS Thursday
Eunice Junior High School will hold Open House at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 in the school’s cafeteria.
There will be a JCampus training for parents offered in the computer lab from 4:30 until 5:45 p.m.
UBS in Eunice Sept. 8
Tropical Storm Harvey and its associated flooding are impacting the nation’s blood supply.
All blood collection agencies in the U.S. are making every effort to meet the emergency blood needs of patients and ensure a sufficient blood supply in storm affected areas.
Donors of all types, especially type O, are needed to give blood now.
United Blood Services will be at Walmart in Eunice from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. All donors will receive a 9-11 Never Forget T-shirt.
Leaders City Wide Supply Drive set
Leaders Building Leaders will sponsor a City Wide Harvey Supply Drive for flood victims in Houston from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the City Hall.
The public is encouraged to give and help those in need.
Supplies needed are: non-perishable items, baby formula, diapers, toiletries, personal hygiene (body wash), blankets, towels, underwear (all sizes), pillows, plus-size clothing, kids clothing, coloring books, toys, dog food, and cases of bottled water.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.

Annual Gospel Fest set for Sept. 9
The annual Gospel Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Basile Town Park.
The public is invited to attend. There will be music provided by Will Stevens, Word Ministries Praise Team, Bobby & Billy Johnson, Eight31, and Hunter Foreman. Testimonies will also be given. There will also be BBQ, drinks, funnel cakes, snow cones, and popcorn sold during the event.

St. Leo CDA annual Rummage Sale set
The Catholic Daughters of Court St. Leo 2168 of Roberts Cove/Branch will have its annual Rummage Sale from 7 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the parish hall in Roberts Cove, located on La. 98.
Items of clothing, furniture, home furnishings, potted plants, books, knick-knacks and much more will be available for purchase, with all proceeds from the sale help the court to continue charitable activities.
LA Tournoi Pageant set Sept. 9
The Louisiana Tournoi Pageant is set for Sept. 9 in Ville Platte Northside Civic Center.
Children’s division pageant will be at 9 a.m. There will be divisions including La Tournoi, Teen Queen, Jr. These queens contest is set for 6 p.m.

Annunciation Church Bazaar Sept. 9 & 10
The annual Annunciation Parish Church Bazaar in the community of Duralde is scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10. The Saturday bingo will begin after the 4 p.m. Mass with burgers and snacks available for purchase.
On Sept. 10, barbecue pork or chicken dinners will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $9 per plate. Advanced tickets are available.
Other events include face painting, plant shop, sweet shop, country store, bingo, and children’s games. A live auction will take place at 1 p.m. Barbecue burgers and beverages will be sold in addition to plate lunches on Sunday.

Boy Scout Troop 425 recruitment drive
The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.
The age group being targeted for recruitment are boys aged 11 through 13. Boy Scout Troop 425 is based in Eunice and is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, also in Eunice.

There will be a Miss Yadah Natural Pageant on Oct. 14 at the Word Ministries Church, located at 1960 W. Laurel, Eunice.
There will be 7 different ages groups/divisions and a $40 entry fee is required.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
