Blood drive planned in Eunice
All blood collection agencies in the U.S. are making every effort to meet the emergency blood needs of patients and ensure a sufficient blood supply in storm affected areas, according to a news release from United Blood Services.
It is important for blood donors to give in the coming days and weeks to meet the immediate and future needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
If donations are negatively impacted, the long term needs of patients could be affected.
Donors of all types, especially Type O, are needed to give blood.
Donate Blood at the Eunice Walmart from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday.
All donors will get a Sept. 11, 2001, “Never Forget” t-shirt.
Acadia election supervisors to meet
A meeting of the Acadia Parish Board of Election Supervisors will be held in the Registrar of Voters Office at 10 a.m. Sept. 15, to draw the commissioners for the Oct. 14 election.
This meeting is open to the general public.
Bulb & Blossom meeting set Monday
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11 at Marlow Veillon’s home.
Members are reminded to bring something to add to baskets for district meeting in October, if they wish.

Woodmen Life 911 ceremony set Sept. 11
A Woodmen Life 911 Ceremony will be held on Monday at the Eunice Circle Park at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.
There will be a brief ceremony in Honor and Remembrance of the individuals whose life was lost on that day, Sept. 11, 2001.

Blood drive in Eunice set Friday

United Blood Services will be at Walmart in Eunice from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday. All donors will receive a 9-11 Never Forget T-shirt.
Leaders City Wide Supply Drive set
Leaders Building Leaders will sponsor a City Wide Harvey Supply Drive for flood victims in Houston from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday at City Hall.
The public is encouraged to give and help those in need.
Supplies needed are: non-perishable items, baby formula, diapers, toiletries, personal hygiene (body wash), blankets, towels, underwear (all sizes), pillows, plus-size clothing, kids clothing, coloring books, toys, dog food, and cases of bottled water.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Annual Gospel Fest set for Saturday
The annual Gospel Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Basile Town Park.
The public is invited to attend. There will be music provided by Will Stevens, Word Ministries Praise Team, Bobby & Billy Johnson, Eight31, and Hunter Foreman. Testimonies will also be given. There will also be BBQ, drinks, funnel cakes, snow cones, and popcorn sold during the event.

LA Tournoi Pageant set Sept. 9
The Louisiana Tournoi Pageant is set for Sept. 9 in Ville Platte Northside Civic Center.
Children’s division pageant will be at 9 a.m. There will be divisions including La Tournoi, Teen Queen, Jr. These queens contest is set for 6 p.m.

Annunciation Church Bazaar Sept. 9-10
The annual Annunciation Parish Church Bazaar in the community of Duralde is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
The Saturday bingo will begin after the 4 p.m. Mass with burgers and snacks available for purchase.
On Sunday, barbecue pork or chicken dinners will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $9 per plate. Advanced tickets are available.
Other events include face painting, plant shop, sweet shop, country store, bingo, and children’s games. A live auction will take place at 1 p.m. Barbecue burgers and beverages will be sold in addition to plate lunches on Sunday.

A Day for Drew set Sept. 30 Church Point
There will be “A Day for Drew” to benefit Andrew Olivier medical expenses Sept. 30 at The Church Point City Park Pavilion.
The gate will open at 7 a.m. There will be a $5 admission. There will be a fun day for the entire family planned.
There will be a 5K Color Run, beef cook off, Poker run, live auction, country store, Sweet shop, fun jumps, characters, face painting, balloons, BBQ hamburgers, 50/50 drawing, and local music.

Families Helping Families event Sept. 30
Families Helping Families of Acadiana will have a Louisiana Department of Education’s Options for Resolution of Special Education Disputes presentation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Clifton Chenier Center on West Willow Drive in Lafayette.
The presentation will examine the dispute resolution options for children with exceptionalities, and identify some of the most common/frequent dispute issues.

The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.

EHS Bobcat Auction set Oct. 17
The annual Eunice High School Bobcat Auction, sponsored by the EHS Booster Club, will be held from 6 until 10 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Northwest Community Center.
It will be broadcast on 105-5 KEUN, streaming on ustream.com (search for “KEUN RADIO”), and audio will be live on Charter Cable channel 198.
Items may be viewed on Facebook (EHS Booster Club Auction 2017). Auction viewers and participants are invited and welcomed to come to the event and view the auction live.
Gumbo will be served for a small fee charged, and a cash bar will be available.
There will be a silent auction going on at Northwest Community Center during the live auction with many other items to view and bid on.
