Rummage Sale at St. Mathilda Sept. 30
The St. Mathilda Church Altar Society will have a rummage sale beginning at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at the St. Mathilda Catholic Church grounds.
All proceeds from the sales will go to benefit St. Mathilda’s Church repairs and renovations.

Early Voting in Eunice set Sept. 30
St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters office will hold early voting in Eunice for all registered voters from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 5-7 at Eunice City Hall, second floor, Clerk of Courts office.

Freddie Pate to perform at LSUE
LSUE Performing Arts, along with Experience Louisiana and CLECO are presenting Freddie Pate in concert on at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 6 in the auditorium of the Health Tech building (nurses building).
All proceeds go to the LSUE Foundation scholarship fund. Tickets are $10 and available at the door, at the mayor’s office in Ciyt Hall or by calling Donna Baltakis at 337-457-1510.
CDs will also be on sale that evening.
Donations are welcomed.

LSUE French Table meet Fridays
The LSUE French Table will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Fridays at LSUE Continuing Ed Building, Room 117, next to baseball field.
On Friday, the topic discussed will be Wakes - veiled de mort; and on Sept. 29 the topic of discussion will be Helping Hands - coup de main.
The event is free, and welcomed to all. Coffee will be served.

St. Landry COA Medicare program
A presentation of the Medicare program will be presented at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice at 11 a.m. with the lunch group and Sept. 27 with the Bingo group.
On Sept. 22 the presentation will be presented at the COA Senior Center at 2419 James Eaglin in Opelousas.
The presentation will be presented by Michael Tatman with Blue Advantage.

Church anniversary at St. Luke Baptist
The 89th year church anniversary at St. Luke Baptist Church in Vidrine will be celebrated Sept 29 and Oct. 1.
The Friday evening at 7 p.m. the celebration will include guest speaker Bishop Gerald Simon of Grace Christian Center in Glenmora.
The Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., there will be an anniversary sermond given by the Rev. C. James Fontenot of St. Peter Baptist Church in Washington.
Rev. Lloyd Antoine is the pastor, and the public is invited to attend.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

A Day for Drew set Sept. 30 Church Point
There will be “A Day for Drew” to benefit Andrew Olivier medical expenses Sept. 30 at The Church Point City Park Pavilion.
The gate will open at 7 a.m. There will be a $5 admission. There will be a fun day for the entire family planned.
There will be a 5K Color Run, beef cook off, Poker run, live auction, country store, Sweet shop, fun jumps, characters, face painting, balloons, BBQ hamburgers, 50/50 drawing, and local music.

Families Helping Families event Sept. 30
Families Helping Families of Acadiana will have a Louisiana Department of Education’s Options for Resolution of Special Education Disputes presentation from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Clifton Chenier Center on West Willow Drive in Lafayette.
The presentation will examine the dispute resolution options for children with exceptionalities, and identify some of the most common/frequent dispute issues.

Boy Scout Troop 425 recruitment drive
The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.
The age group being targeted for recruitment are boys aged 11 through 13. Boy Scout Troop 425 is based in Eunice and is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, also in Eunice.

Alligator Festival set for Oct. 1
The Saint Eugene Parish Annual Alligator Festival is set for Oct. 1 on the Mermentau River at Grand Chenier Park beginning at 9:45 a.m.
The festival will include the Little Mr. and Miss Alligator Festival Pageant, the South Cameron High School Dazzlers Dance Line, live music with Teardrops, a big prize raffle, live and silent auction with great deals for Christmas presents,
There will be barbecue chicken and beef dinners, fried alligator, and much more.

EHS Bobcat Auction set Oct. 17
The annual Eunice High School Bobcat Auction, sponsored by the EHS Booster Club, will be held from 6 until 10 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Northwest Community Center.
It will be broadcast on 105-5 KEUN, streaming on ustream.com (search for “KEUN RADIO”), and audio will be live on Charter Cable channel 198.
Items may be viewed on Facebook (EHS Booster Club Auction 2017). Auction viewers and participants are invited and welcomed to come to the event and view the auction live.
Gumbo will be served for a small fee charged, and a cash bar will be available.
There will be a silent auction going on at Northwest Community Center during the live auction with many other items to view and bid on.

Court Eunice CDA Prayer Rally Oct. 14
Court Eunice #208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have an annual Public Prayer rally for our country.
“America Needs Fatima” prayer service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14 in the prayer garden of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 310 W. Vine St.
This event will be held regardless of weather. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A Rosary will begin at noon on this day, in every United states time zone, to honor Our Blessed Mother and ask for her protection and intercessory prayers for America.

Miss Yadah Pageant Oct. 14
There will be a Miss Yadah Natural Pageant on Oct. 14 at the Word Ministries Church, located at 1960 W. Laurel, Eunice.
There will be seven different ages groups/divisions and a $40 entry fee is required.

Cameron’s Shoes 5K Run set Oct. 28
The annual Cameron’s Shoes Foundation 5K Charity Run/Walk will be held from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at LSUE campus, in conjunction with annual Experience Louisiana Festival.
Cameron’s Shoes, a charity foundation, formed and created by Stevie Guillory, a native of Eunice, provides shoes to poverty stricken families in Cali, Columbia.

WMU sponsors Taste of Home Oct. 3
The Women on Mission/WMU Acadia will sponsor a Taste of Home “Homemade in Acadiana” from 5 p.m. until Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Acadian Baptist Center.
There will be Holiday shopping/tastings, a cooking demonstration by local chefs, a guest speaker, and door prizes.
Tickets are $15, with ticket locations at Classic Cut Beauty Shop in Eunice and Cade de La Salle in Ville Platte.

Acadia Parish Dist. 4 Co-Ed Tourney set
The Acadia Fire Dist. 4 will host a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Oct. 21-22 at the Eunice Rec Complex.
Entry fee is $225 per team and teams will consist of 7 guys and 3 girls.
There will be prizes for Champion and Runner-up.
There will also be a home run derby and a beer drinking contest.
Registration deadline is Oct. 13.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.
