It seems like every week this season the Bobcats have to face a premier running attack.
Jennings (263), Rayne (349), Crowley (234) and Church Point (244) all rolled up big yards on the ground against the Bobcats.
Eunice High will face another strong ground game as the Bobcats visit Pine Prairie Friday night.
The Panthers cruised past Mamou 42-8 last week as Pine Prairie put up 390 yards of total offense, led by Jerrod Sims (19-194, 5 TD) and Darrian Hayes (21-177, TD).
After four straight losses, Eunice (2-4, 1-2) got back on track last week with a 47-0 win over Port Barre as the Bobcats finished with 367 yards of total offense.
“We started moving the ball well against Church Point (228 yards),” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said. “We started to click on offense and that made the difference against Port Barre last week.
“I thought we executed well on both sides of the ball.”
Pine Prairie (3-3, 2-1) opened the season with a 33-7 loss to Tioga but renbounded with a 26-6 win over Ville Platte.
The Panthers then fell to Beau Chene (27-26) and district foe Church Point (51-12) before back-to-back wins over Port Barre (39-8) and Mamou.
“They have a quarterback that can run and good running backs,” Trosclair said. “They mainly run behind the right guard and right tackle - both of those guys are pretty physical.”
To earn a spot in the playoffs, the coach said they have to win.
“Every game is important from here on out,” Trosclair said. “We would like to make the playoffs and have a chance for a home game, but that requires us to win.
“That is a our plan – to win out and get a home game,” he said. “If not, at least get a good draw where we have a chance to win a playoff game.”
Injuries has plagued the Bobcats all season, the coach said.
“It has been one of those years where something happens every week and we have a few who won’t be able to come back,’ Trosclair said. “We have some guys bruised up but they are going gut it out and play.
“Yout have to admire their dedication to the team.”
