The Church Point High Bears will host the Jennings High Bulldogs in the second round of the Class 3A state football playoffs on Friday after posting a 61-24 win over the Carroll High Bulldogs in first round action.
Coach J.C. Arceneaux’s Bears dominated Carroll by rushing for more than 600 yards, led by quarterback Breelyn Jones. Jones netted 215 yards on eight rushes and five touchdowns. Rodney Dupuis carried 14 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Tyrin McDade added 159 yards with two touchdowns, while Gavin Richard managed 99 yards on 14 attempts.
Kicker Austin Manuel was successful on five PAT kicks for the Bears.
Jennings advanced to the second round by defeating Bogalusa 33-12.
