Iota traveling to meet Kaplan Pirates

IOTA — The Iota High Bulldogs claimed a spot in the Class 3A football second round bracket with a 42-28 victory over Patterson.
The Bulldogs, under the guidance of head coach Josh Andrus, dominated the rushing attack thanks to Kaleb Guillory. Guillory had 42 carries for 345 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs.
Patterson opened the scoring to take a 7-0 lead, but Guillory would score twice in the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead. Guillory added a third touchdown in the second quarter on a 54-yard run and Bulldog quarterback Trae Rambin teamed with Hunter Andrus on an 18-yard pass to give Iota a 28-7 lead.
Patterson’s Dajon Richard scored on a 59-yard run to cut the Iota lead to 28-14 at the half.
The two teams scored two touchdowns apiece in the second half to give the Bulldogs a 42-28 victory.
The Bulldogs will travel to play the Kaplan Pirates on Friday.
Kaplan advanced to the second round with a 36-7 victory over KIPP Renaissance.
