Tomorrow the Sacré Coeur KC Auxiliary will host its annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza, marking the 25th year the group has held the event.
Although the day provides local residents a chance to shop for unique Christmas gifts, it accomplishes more than that - it raises funds for the auxiliary’s community projects.
The extravaganza will start at 9 a.m. and run to 3 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Home located on the corner of S. Ave. E and Elm St. Admission is $1 per person, with children 12 and under admitted free. Door prizes will be awarded every 15 minutes.
Approximately 50 vendors will be on hand with wares such as jewelry, wood carvings and crafts, appliquéing and monogramming, metal crafts, Cajun and Louisiana art, Christmas stockings, decorations and ornaments, and much, much more.
The Knights of Columbus will have biscuits and coffee for sale in the morning and their famous brisket sandwiches, gumbo, jambalaya, potato salad, hamburgers and boudin balls for sale for lunch.
The Ladies Auxiliary will sell their ever-popular homemade sweet dough pies, candy, pralines, fudge, brownies and more.
Funds raised by the event will go towards projects such as caps, socks, pajamas and winter clothing for the residents of the Jennings Veterans’ Home, gifts from the Giving Tree at Encore Nursing Home, a teacher’s cake Bingo to help with classroom expenses and many more. The Auxiliary also helps provide support to the Crowley Christian Care Center and the Desormeaux Center, as well as Right to Life programs.
