Acadia election board to meet
A meeting of the Acadia Parish Board of Election Supervisors will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, in the Registrar of Voters Office, 568 NW Court Circle, Crowley, to draw the commissioner-in-charge for the year 2018.
The meeting shall be open to the public.

Acadian Baptist Center to hold children’s retreat
Acadian Baptist Center near Richard is holding a children’s retreat for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, Jan. 26-27.
The camp will involve the search and discovery of the “Big Foot.”

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Black Women Achievements Against The Odds Jan. 28
The city of Eunice invites the public to a festival parade, program and exhibit, “Black Women Against the Odds,” on Jan. 28.
Keynote speaker and parade marshal will be a Eunice native Col. Dr. Gwendolyn Hebert Thompson.
There will be a parade beginning at the Southeast Center at 2 p.m. and will conclude at the Liberty Theater with a program at 3 p.m. Afterwards the City Hall lobby will have an exhibit of Black Women Achievement Against the Odds.

Annual EHS Bobcat Blast set for Dec. 31
The annual Eunice High Bobcat Blast will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Northwest Community Ceenter.
Donations of $125 will get you a ticket which will admit 2 adults. All proceeds form the blast will go to EHS Athletic Association.
There will be a steak supper served at 7 p.m. and a dance from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
There will be cash prizes awarded.

Lafayette Genealogical Society to meet
The Lafayette Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18, at the Southside Branch, Lafayette Public Library, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette.
Speakers are Society members, Kathy Higginbotham and Donna Latiolais, who will explain how to access from home both Louisiana and Bureau of Land Management historical land records and how to compare that information to present day maps.
