Revival at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Jan. 21-Jan. 24
There will be a revival at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, next to Acadian Baptist Center, Jan. 21 through Jan. 24.
The “Let It Begin In Me” revival will feature guest speaker Jason Towley and music by The Macky Willis Family.
The times for revival will include Monday-Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. A nursery is provided each evening. There will be a Sunday 10:30 a.m. service with dinner on the grounds following.
The church is located at 1154 Academy Drive. The pastor of the church is Rev. Orville Rogers.

Free oil change set Friday
Eunice High School seniors Benjamin Guillory, Nathan Noblitt and Louis Roy will perform oil changes, from 8 until 10:30 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. free of charge, on Friday, Jan. 19, as part of their senior project.
The free oil change service will be at the Eunice Career and Technical Education Center, located at 421 S. 10th Street, in Eunice.
They are asking for you to furnish your own oil and oil filter.

EHS Alumni Assoc. to hold elections
The EHS Alumni Association will hold it’s elections at 6 p.m. Wednesday inside the EHS library.

EPT holds auditions for upcoming play
Eunice Players’ Theatre will hold auditions for the first play of the 49th season, “A Comedy of Tenors” on Jan. 18 and Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each evening.
Director Jody L. Powell needs 4 men and 3 women whose age range is 20’s to 50’s to fill the cast. More people are needed to assist with set decoration, backstage duties, costuming, etc.
Auditions for this comedy, written by Ken Ludwig, are open to everyone who wants to get involved with their local community theatre, regardless of prior acting experience. Auditions will be at theater, located at 121 S. Second Street.
Rehearsals will be in February and March, with the show running in mid-March.

ELTL spring registration continues
The Eunice Ladies Tennis League spring registration continues at Eunice City Hall from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Registration will end on Jan. 19. Dues are $25 and includes 12 weeks of play and an-end-of-season tennis banquet.

Eunice Players’ board meeting set Jan. 16
The Eunice Players’ Theatre will hold its general board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the theater.
This meeting is open to all season ticket holders and all are encouraged to attend. A discussion of theupcoming Irving Awards and 2018 season will be part of the meeting.

ABC Men’s Retreat set Jan. 19-20
Acadian Baptist Center, near Richard, will host a Men’s Retreat on Jan 19-20.
The theme of this seminar will be “Being a Man of God.” Speakers will be Dr. Tim Moffett, pastor of First Baptist Church of Eunice; Dr. Perry Hubbs, pastor of First Baptist Church of Opelousas; and Pastor Kevin West of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte.
Music will be provided by Chad Boudreaux of First Baptist Church of Crowley.
Cost for the event is $65, including meals and lodging; $35 for commuters, including meals.

Acadian Baptist Center to hold children’s retreat
Acadian Baptist Center near Richard is holding a children’s retreat for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, Jan. 26-27.
The camp will involve the search and discovery of the “Big Foot.”

Lenten Day of Reflection set Feb. 17
A Lenton Day of Reflection, with a theme of Embracing Change, Maintaining Values will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Feb. 17, at St. Pius X School Theatre.
Speakers will include the Rev. Chester C. Arceneaux, Katie Austin and Kessie Thomas.
Cost is $25 in advance, and $30 at the door, and will include a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided.

Black Women Achievements Against The Odds Jan. 28
The city of Eunice invites the public to a festival parade, program and exhibit, “Black Women Against the Odds,” on Jan. 28.
Keynote speaker and parade marshal will be a Eunice native Col. Dr. Gwendolyn Hebert Thompson.
There will be a parade beginning at the Southeast Center at 2 p.m. and will conclude at the Liberty Theater with a program at 3 p.m. Afterwards the City Hall lobby will have an exhibit of Black Women Achievement Against the Odds.

Lafayette Genealogical Society to meet
The Lafayette Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18, at the Southside Branch, Lafayette Public Library, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette.
Speakers are Society members, Kathy Higginbotham and Donna Latiolais, who will explain how to access from home both Louisiana and Bureau of Land Management historical land records and how to compare that information to present day maps.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
