Deputies with the Eunice City Marshal’s Office deputies arrested an Elton man on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop near Glendale Elementary on Thursday, according to Marshal Terry Darbonne.
Upon contact with the driver, the deputy smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, Darbonne said in a news release.
The driver, Lance Bishop, 29 of the 3400 block of Doise Road, Elton, was detained pending an investigation.
Deputies observed a clear plastic bag containing a green substance lying on the seat where the driver was sitting, he said. Upon questioning of Bishop, he stated that he had a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle, Darbonne said.
However, upon searching the vehicle, deputies recovered numerous types of narcotics, Darbonne said.
Bishop was arrested and taken to the Eunice Police Department for booking on numerous felony violations including possession with intent to distribute Schedule 1 marijuana, possession Schedule 2 crystal meth, possession of Schedule 2 hydrocodone, possession of Schedule 4 clonazepam, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of drug-free zone, expired MVI, stop lights required, Darbonne said.
No bond was set at time of arrest.
