Former Iota coach arrested for Iota High School burglary

A former football coach at Iota High School has been charged with burglarizing the school.
Neal Legé, who coached the Bulldogs for a total of 20 years, including six years as head coach, was arrested on Wednesday, March 7, and charged with simple burglary, according to Iota Police Chief Damon Daigle.
“We were contacted by Iota High School in reference to money missing in the athletic department,” Daigle said. “They provided video and still shots from inside the coaches’ office showing the suspect, Neal Legé, taking money from the safe.
“A warrant was obtained and Mr. Legé turned himself in on Wednesday.”
Daigle said it was confirmed that Legé, who hasn’t worked at the school since 2014, had turned in his keys when he departed.
“We believe that he had made a duplicate set of keys and simply let himself in,” Daigle said. “There was no evidence that he had to ‘break in’ to the school.”
Legé was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail and has since posted $5,000 bond.
