CROWLEY – The Iota Bulldogs continued their winning ways on Wednesday with a 14-3 victory over the Crowley Gents in a game that was halted after the sixth inning due to the mercy rule.
The Bulldogs (18-3, 6-0) have now won 14 straight games, including the last six by the mercy rule.
Crowley fell to 4-19 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Dakota Breaux picked up the victory for the Bulldogs after throwing four innings of no-hit baseball. He walked three and struck out five.
Kameron Aucoin pitched he final two frames and allowed three runs on two hits and three walks. He struck out four.
Crowley’s Christian Stafford was tagged with the loss despite allowing just three earned runs. He gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out three.
The Gents committed six errors on the day that led to nine unearned runs.
Deven Mouton paced Iota’s 10-hit attack with a pair of triples and four RBI. Andrew Ashby followed with two singles and two RBI and Tristan Miller had two singles and one RBI.
In addition, Gavin Vidrin tripled and drove in two runs and Aucoin, Hunter Wriborg and Trae Rambin also had one hit. Wriborg also drove in a run.
Sean Vincent had a two-run double for the Gents and Alyx Duhon had a single.
Lady Dogs top Church Point
IOTA – Ryley Crochet and Amelie Armand combined for five hits and six RBI Wednesday to help lead the Iota Lady Bulldogs to a 13-5 victory over Church Point.
The Lady Dogs improved to 16-7 on the season and 9-2 in league play, one game behind district leaders Pine Prairie and Crowley High.
Crochet was 3-for-4 on the day with a triple and three RBI and Armand had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.
Peyton Dubose also had three hits, all singles.
Dixie Guidry and Taylor Dupre joined Armand with two hits each. Guidry also logged two RBI and Dupre drove in one.
Makenzie Droddy, Greta Fontenot, McKenzy LeJeune and Teri Johnson rounded out the offense with one hit each. Droddy and Fontenot each drove in a run as well.
Fontenot also picked up the victory in the circle for the Lady Dogs. She surrendered five runs, three earned, on nine hits and one walk while striking out five.
