Police Chief Jimmy Broussard said additional charges could be filed in the shooting death of a woman here last Friday.
Heather Mouton, 37, was allegedly shot and killed by her estranged husband, Demetric Savoy, just after midnight on May 25, according to Broussard.
“The results of the autopsy report show that there were two bullet wounds to the head,” Broussard said. “We are still investigating different leads on the case, and we are looking toward filing additional charges in the case as we recover more information.”
Police were called to the 1200 block of Lurose Drive in the northwestern area of the city at 12:11 a.m. Friday. Officers responded to find a black woman laying prone with blood around her head area, according to information released immediately following the incident.
Savoy, who witnesses placed at the residence immediately prior to the shooting, was arrested only minutes thereafter thanks to information from the public as to his whereabouts, Broussard said.
Savoy was arrested without incident and transported to the Acadia Parish Jail Facility where he remains on a “No Bond” warrant for one count of second-degree homicide, violation of a protective order and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Mouton was pronounced dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. The autopsy was performed by the Calcasieu Forensics Laboratory in Lake Charles.
