Making fudge brownie sundaes. Highland Elementary’s fourth graders in Mrs. Candace Fontenot’s class were taught a fun lesson on following directions. The class was able to make each of their own fudge brownie sundae and then enjoy eating it. Pictured from left are Macy Vincent, Austin Fontenot, and Christopher Johnson, in back, Dyshanique Freeman.
Miller gets junior high principal post. Lakesha Miller addresses the St. Landry Parish School Board following her appointment as acting principal at Eunice Junior High. She said her vision includes positive academic growth for all students at the school.
Dupre takes LaPlace hospital job. Acadian Medical Center CEO Charlotte Dupre has accepted a similar job at River Parishes Hospital, LaPlace, another Lifepoint facility. Her last day at AMC is July 20. No successor has been announced.
Library assistant Robin Pommier turns on computers in Eunice branch for start of day’s business. She is the library’s newest employee. There are 12 computers, two of which are ‘very old.’
Local cowboys compete in national rodeo. Tyler Andrepont rides a bull in a recent Little Britches Rodeo competition. Four boys from the Eunice area will be traveling to compete in the National Little Britches Rodeo Tournament being held in Pueblo, Colo. July 16-21. Tre Guillory, Garrett Mire, Tyler Andrepont, and Adam Meaux each had to place within the top seven in at least two rodeos in the events they’re competing in.
Future majorette. The Eunice Recreational Department sponsored a Cheer, Twirl and Dance camp this week for girls ages 5 to 12 years. Many participants learned how to cheer, dance and twirl as Eunice High School team leaders taught different skills and routines. Pictured, Gabby Bertrand, 6, is out at the Northwest pavilion ready with a baton in her hand.
