Two suspects who were featured on the Crime of the Week for the theft at Dave’s Monument in Lawtell have been arrested, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
St. Landry Crimes Stoppers host, Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux and Detective James Bergeron spotlighted the business theft in the weekly “Crime of the Week” segment on KATC TV 3 on June 20. Shortly after its airing, tips began coming in identifying both suspects. Crime Stoppers received over 10 tips and five phone calls identifying Cornelius D. Gallow and Ashley Fontenot of Ville Platte as the suspects. The tips that helped solved the case was received 20 minutes after the airing of the crime which also lead to recovery of the stolen items.
Gallow, 43, of the 800 block of Dr. Carver Street, Ville Platte, and Fontenot, 31, of the 600 block of Jackson Street, Ville Platte, have been charged with theft, according to a news release from the sheriff.
Guidroz stated, “I want to take this opportunity to thank the tipsters that reached out to Crime Stoppers and helped solve this case. Working together proves that if people get involved we can put more criminals behind bars.”
