Sheriff: Good Samaritan robbed at gunpoint

An act of Good Samaritan turned into an armed robbery at Church Point, according to Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
The intended Good Samaritan was flagged down by a person known to him on La. 95 near Carriere Lane on Wednesday, Gibson stated in a news release.
After stopping to check on the person, the good deed was met with Christian Bertrand, 39 of Church Point, producing a semi-automatic handgun and demanding the victim’s money, Gibson stated.
The victim complied and Bertrand fled the scene, he stated.
But deputies identified Bertrand and a warrant for armed robbery was issued.
On Friday, Church Point Police located the Bertrand’s vehicle at a residence in Church Point.
Armed with an arrest warrant, deputies and officers found Bertrand and arrested him without incident.
Bertrand was taken to the Acadia Parish Jail and booked for one count of armed robbery. On Friday, Bertrand remained in jail on $75,000 bail.
