Grannies need to tend to home

Recently I was informed through the news media that several “Grannies” were gathering in Houston then traveling to McAllen, Texas, to find out first hand the disposition of the children separated from their parents after crossing the border into the United States from Mexico. . I wish them a safe trip and hopefully they will be met by the proper Border Patrol authorities and provided with the correct explanation for their concerns about the physical conditions, housing and other concerns they may have for taking this lengthy trip.
Having the title of “Grannies” I feel certain that they do have legitimate concerns of children and may have more than one grand child in their respective families. But, I must ask the following questions to these concerned “Grannies.”
A. “Grannies” were you aware that 2,700,000 American children have a parent in prison?
B. “Grannies” were you aware that there are 400,000 American children in foster care?
C. “Grannies” were you aware that approximately 765,000 American children are separated from their military parents not knowing if they will see them again?
D. “”Grannies” were you foolish enough to travel to the Border solely on the word of the media focusing on 2,000 children who are temporarily separated from illegal immigrants?
Come on “Grannies” return to your respective communities and concentrate on the American children who could really use a “Grannies” loving care. Allow the professional authorities handle all of the problems at the border. A little group prayer would not hurt while traveling away from McAllen. I am referred to by “Paw” by my five grandchildren and two great-grand children who keep me pretty well occupied right here at home.
