JENNINGS – Eunice High rolled to a 53-24 win over Opelousas High, while Jennings suffered a stunning 30-21 loss to Church Point.
But for Bobcat head coach Paul Trosclair, the results doesn’t mean much heading into Friday’s trip to Jennings.
“They are very good,” the coach said of the Bulldogs. “They made some mistakes against Church Point but they are very talented and it will be a real test for us.
“This is a game that will be a battle into the fourth quarter,” he said.
EHS finished with 326 yards rushing against the Tigers and added another 95 yards throught the air.
“That was a good way to start the season for us,” he said of the win over OHS. “I like the way we started the game on defense and the way we took charge on offense.
“We showed some balance with the rushing attack but we were also able to complete some big passes too,” Trosclair said.
Jeoul Hill had 113 yards on nine carries and a score.
Simeon Ardoin completed 5-of-12 passes for 95 yards with an interception and a touchdown.
“We are going to have some good offense to beat Jennings because they very talented on offense and they are going to move the ball.”
Jennings finished with 232 yards of total offense against Church Point, but had two turnovers.
“Hopefully we can keep them from making any big plays.
“The longer drives we have the better,” Trosclair added. “We need to keep their offense on the sidelines.”
