EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Linda S. Vidrine announces her passing on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Acadia Medical Center in Crowley with loving family by her side. She was 70. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata with Father Keenan Brown Celebrant.
Linda retired from Evangeline Parish School Board after 33 years. She worked for Iota State School for ten years which is where her love for handicap children began. She also had a love for dancing, cooking for her family on Sundays and helping our in the restaurant. Linda was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her children, Shonda V. Zaunbrecher and husband, Craig of Jennings, Daisy V. Dupre and husband, Jared and Gy Vidrine and wife, Helen all of Basile; her five siblings, Betty Bergeron of Church Point, Judy Brinkley of Houston, Patsy Fuselier, Ed Smith and Lynn Smith all of Eunice; the thirteen joys of her life her grandchildren, Angelica Z. Nunez, Lacey Z. Guinn, Jesslyn Z. Sullivan, Kali Z. LaLande, Blain Zaunbrecher, Brelei, Garrin and Ashton Rabideau, Shaina, Lydia and Blade Miller, Kanen and Zeb Vidrine; her eleven great grandchildren, Hayden, Hans and Catherine Nunez, Lane, Clare, Maria and Emily Guinn, Eli Sullivan, David LaLande, Aydiah and Leilana Rabideau; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Vidrine; daughter, Holly Kaye Vidrine; grandson, Jacob Zaunbrecher; parents, Roosevelt and Ethel Cormier Smith and a brother, Donald Smith.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, September 13th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, September 14th from 6:30 am until time of services. Father Miller will recite a Rosary at 6:30 pm on Thursday.
