Eunice takes two from Church Point

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats claimed their second victory in district play with a 56-32 win over Church Point in basketball action played at the Bobcat gym this past Friday.
Coach Wayne Fontenot’s Lady Cats took an early lead by outscoring the Lady Bears by an 11-6 margin in the opening quarter.
Leah Walker and Stacie White combined to score eight points in the quarter. Hailey Sonnier chipped in with two points in the quarter.
The Lady Cats continued thier dominant play in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bears by an 16-8 margin.
Jesslyn Reed Shanyia Toussaint joined Walker and White to keep the pressure on the Lady Bears, leading the Lady Cats to a 27-14 lead at halftime.
The Eunice girls continued to maintain their scoring advantage in the third quarter, limiting the Lady Bears to just five points in the third quarter.
The Lady Bears did manage to outscore the Lady Cats by a 13-10 margin in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bobcats managed to score 10 points to complete their victory at 56-32.
Stacie White led the Lady Cats in scoring with 28 points, with Leah Walker chipping in with 15 for the game.
Eunice’s Madison Freeman and Arolaina Minor each finished with four points for the Lady Bobcats. Church Point’s Blair Moore led the Lady Bears in scoring with 10 points.

Eunice 72, CPHS 61
The Eunice High Bobcats made it a clean swept of Church Point by defeating the Bears 72-61 in their contest. The Bobcats and the Bears went back and forth in the early going of the first quarter, with Carlin Vigers hitting from the outside while Mykal Moore stayed inside for Coach Chad Andrepont’s squad.
The Bobcats finished the quarter with an 18-13 lead.
The Cats continued their quality plauy into the second quarter, extending their lead with a 22-13 advantage heading into halftime.
The Bears started a comeback in the third quarter, scoring 16 points while limiting the Cats to 17 in the quarter. But the Bobcats would continue to rely on the play of Vigers and Moore heading into the fourth quarter.
The Bears would pressure the Bobcats in the fourth quarter, cutting the Eunice lead to 53-42 at one point.
But the Bobcats bounced back to halt the comeback of the Bears, claiming the 72-61.
Vigers led the Bobcats in scoring with 28 points, including three field goals from beyond the 3-point line. Moore finished with 17 points and Traelyn Cooper finished with 10 points.
Leading the scoring for Church Point was Trent White with 19 points. Tyrin McDade finished with 11 points.
