Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of man in Basile case

According to Chief Allen Ivory Jr. of the Basile Police Department, “Jeramie Brown who was wanted on numerous charges from his office has been arrested with the help of St. Landry Crime Stoppers and several law enforcement agencies.”
The charges stem from a Feb. 12 domestic violence complaint.
A news release from Crime Stoppers stated that Basile Police received a 911 call from Evangeline Parish 911 on Feb. 12 stating that they were on the phone with a victim stating her boyfriend Jeramie Anthony Brown attacked her inside her home. The victim was able to retreat to the bathroom and locked herself in until the police arrived.
When the officers arrived, Brown then fled on foot to a nearby wooded area, the news release stated. Charges were then filed for domestic abuse battery and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling against Brown. It was also learned that State Probation and Parole also had several warrants for Brown.
Ivory stated that from Feb. 12 to 19, Brown continued to harass the victim by telephone with most of the calls threatening her. On Feb. 19, the victim was once again physically attacked outside of her home by Brown, Ivory said.
On Feb. 25, St. Landry Crime Stoppers contacted Basile Police with an anonymous tip as to the whereabouts of Brown. The tipster gave Brown’s location but it was in St. Landry Parish.
Ivory then requested help from the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Probation and Parole, and the Eunice City Marshals Office.
Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne, stated “My office is always ready to assist any St. Landry Parish agency and outside agencies needing their assistance in the apprehension of fugitives.”
After acting on information from Crime Stoppers, Brown was located in St. Landry Parish in the Swords area by agents with State Probation and Parole, the St. Landry Sheriff’s Department, and the Eunice City Marshal’s Office.
Brown was charged with one count of domestic abuse battery, one count of improper communications, one count of threatening a public official, 1 count of aggravated battery, 1 count of intimidating a witness, one count of resisting an officer, and one count of carrying of firearm by convicted felon.
Following apprehension, Brown was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center of Eunice for treatment and evaluation due to the injuries sustained while being on the run.
Brown was then transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail for booking.
