Eunice High School was the second-highest performing St. Landry Parish high school in the 2019 LEAP results.
Eunice High School grew its percentage of students scoring mastery or better from 37 to 40 in combined English Language Arts, Mathematics and Social Studies.
The top-scoring high school was Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts in Opelousas where the combined percentage scoring mastery or better was 58 percent.
The third highest-scoring high school was Port Barre with 37 percent of its students taking the test scoring master or above in the combined results. The school grew its mastery or better percentage by 7 percent from 2018.
Beau Chene and North Central high schools saw 31 percent of their students taking the LEAP score at mastery or better. Both schools dropped from 33 percent in 2018.
Northwest High School grew its percentage of students scoring mastery or better from 25 percent in 2018 to 28 percent in 2019.
Twenty-four percent of Opelousas Senior High School students scored mastery or better in combined 2019 LEAP results.
The tests are scored at Advanced, Mastery, Basic, Approaching basic and Unsatisfactory.
Mastery is the state’s benchmark for achievement.
