Republican Heather Cloud won 63% of the vote to capture the 28th Senate District, which includes Eunice.
With 100% of the 35,288 votes cast, Cloud defeated Robert Johnson and H. Bernard LeBas. Johnson polled 24% and LeBas 13%.
Cloud is a degreed school teacher. She and her husband own Jody Cloud Trucking and Miss Sue’s Cafe’.
“For over 16 years, I have successfully operated multiple million-dollar budgets in both private and governmental business,” she stated.
“My husband Jody and I have been married for over 18 years, and we have two sons, Logan age 16 and Ethan age 12,” she stated.
Cloud stated she served eight years as mayor of Turkey Creek.
The district includes Avoyelles, Evangeline, Allen, and portions of St. Landry and Acadia parishes.
In other legislative races:
— Incumbent Dustin Miller won 70% of the vote in House District 40.
— Rhonda Butler won the three-way race for House District 38 with 60% of the vote.
