Miller chosen Student of the Year at Eunice High School

Abigail Miller, a senior at Eunice High School, is Student of the Year.
Miller has excelled at Eunice High in multiple fields. She is involved with STEM and history having placed at all school science fairs as well as most of the District level fairs. In her junior year, Miller was awarded the Stockholm Junior Water Prize and the NASA Earth and Science Systems Award at the Regional level of the fair.
Miller has maintained a 4.0 GPA in all her high school years and achieve high on the AP tests in English Language and Composition, as well as U.S. History, making a 5 on the latter test.
Miller has excelled in the French Language, participated in two of the LSUE’s Tri Parish Foreign Language Festivals. She was awarded the John R. Young French Award in her sophomore year.
Miller enjoys art and has excelled in art program at Eunice High. She has taken art for four years. She has featured her art in the high school’s annual art show.
Miller added, “I have taken up both drawing and painting in my times at home, since the craft is extremely peaceful.
“I also enjoy music and theatre, and my Music Appreciation class is really helpful in terms of learning more about specific instruments or forms of music.”
Miller is a member of the Quiz Bowl.
As a student at Eunice High, Miller especially enjoys mathematics and history, especially calculus and U.S. History.
She enjoys volunteering in the community, whether it may be with the National Park Service or reading for children at the library.
After graduation, Miller has future hopes in a career. She said, “In my future, I hope to advance in a career I love, though my many interests make it feel impossible to decide.
“Currently, I am an associate at Walmart in Eunice, and I fit in well with my peers. I enjoy talking to the people that pass by, so I may want to do something like this in the future.
“I want to engage myself in the community by becoming a prominent member of government.
“My goal is to one day be a representative, or even a senator in my state in order to be sure that proper laws are passed to benefit the people of Louisiana.
“A dream for me has always been to be on Capitol Hill, representing my state, or even better, seated in the President’s Cabinet.”
Miller is the daughter Candice Atchison and Raymond Miller of Eunice.
