The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve presents an art exhibit featuring the work of Eunice artist Preston Common.
“Nature, Beauty, and Faith” is on display now through January 30.
Admission to the exhibit and to the center is free. On Jan. 11, meet the artist from 1 to 3 p.m., when Common will be on hand to discuss his work.

Common is a self-taught artist who has been painting since the 1970s and works primarily in acrylics. His works include still lifes, portraits, scenery, landscapes, and seascapes.
“Painting is a form of expression,” Common said. “I like the way colors blend. It brings out something in myself. It is an expression of reality.”
The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is managed by the National Park Service as part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The center features exhibits interpreting the culture of the Acadians who settled the prairies of southwest Louisiana. Folklife demonstrations include foodways presentations, Cajun music, dancing, quilting and other handmade crafts. The center is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and on Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center is closed on all federal holidays but open on Mardi Gras. Admission to the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is free and all activities and demonstrations are free and open to the public.
