Carnival d’Acadie schedule finalized

Plans for the 20th annual Carnival d’Acadie — the city of Crowley’s Mardi Gras celebration — have been finalized.
The one-day event will be held at the Enterprise Center parking area, 11 N. Parkerson Ave., on Feb. 25, Mardi Gras.
Activities will begin at 10 a.m. with an official welcome from Mayor Tim Monceaux.
Live entertainment from The Vintage Thought Suit Band from Nashville, Tennessee, will begin at 10:30 a.m. with judging of the floats scheduled from noon to 12:30 p.m. followed immediately by the presentation of the float awards.
The much-anticipated Carnival d’Acadie Mardi Gras Parade will roll at 1 p.m. from the area of the Enterprise Center. Units will proceed north, circle the Acadia Parish Courthouse and return to the Enterprise Center.
Rounding out the day’s celebration, Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns return to the Carnival stage from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
No pets, glass containers or ice chests will be allowed on the grounds during the celebration and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A variety of food and refreshments will be sold by local and commercial vendors.
