Each year, St. Edmund students in the fifth, eighth, and 12th grades, who have a 3.1 cumulative grade point average or higher are eligible to participate in the Louisiana Student of the Year awards program for the Diocese of Lafayette. Each student must follow the guidelines outlined by the State of Louisiana and the Diocese, submit a portfolio, and complete an interview. The portfolios and interviews are then scored following the state guidelines.
Fifth grade student of the year award went to Reese Fruge, Copeland Miller is named eighth grade student of the year, and Katherine Sittig captured the 12th grade student of the year at St. Edmund Catholic School.
Each year, St. Edmund also names Teachers of the Year. Barry Manuel is St. Edmund Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Thomas Stevens is named Secondary Teacher of the Year at St. Edmund.
Every year, a Supporter of the Year is named at St. Edmund Catholic School. Tom Andrus is St. Edmund’s Supporter of the Year. “We are thankful to all of the parents and alumni that graciously give their time and talents to the school,” said Principal Charles Hazard.
Students, Teachers and Supporter of the Year at St. Edmund were named during an All School Mass held Tuesday morning.
