The Eunice Post Office is entering its fifth month closed with service being provided in a portable building on 3rd Street.
Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said he has not heard anything from the U.S. Postal Service about when the building will be reopened or details about the work.
Fontenot said after Thursday’s Board of Aldermen’s agenda-setting meeting that he ask for a resolution to the Postal Service for answers.
There have been questions about the building’s future since it closed suddenly at the on Sept. 23, 2019.
Those questions include whether handicap access will be provided and replacement of the steps on Laurel Avenue.
A Postal Service spokesperson contacted Friday was unable to provide answers about the work at the Eunice Post Office.
Post Office box customers were initially directed to go to the Lawtell Post Office, but service was provided at a mobile facility.
Mold issues were cited in the building dating to 1938.
The city meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Eunice Municipal Complex, 300 S. 2nd St.
