The U.S. Postal Service responded to a Eunice News inquiry about the Eunice Post Office that the facility will reopen within 90 days.
The main building at 3rd Street and Laurel Avenue has been closed since Sept. 23, 2019.
The Postal Service cited mold issues in the building for the closure.
The Postal Service statement sent Monday follows.
“The safety and well-being of postal customers and employees is a priority for the Postal Service. The temporary suspension of the Eunice Post Office occurred due to facility-related issues. As we continue to make improvements in our facility, at this time, we anticipate resumption of full services within the next 90 days. The U.S. Postal Service is governed by the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA), which requires that Federal buildings leased or constructed after 1968 meet applicable standards for people who have a disability. The Eunice Post Office does provide accommodation provisions to customers on an as-needed basis and the office has approximately 30 employees.
“The Eunice Post Office will remain temporarily suspended until we are sure we can safely resume operations and we apologize for any inconvenience that may have been experienced by customers living in the Eunice community.”
