An Opelousas man and a Eunice woman were recently arrested on drugs charges by Church Point Police.
On March 21, Ryan Mitchell Fontenot, 36, of Opelousas, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, a noise ordinance violation and no driver’s license in possession.
Around 9 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic violation stop on South Main Street.
Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux stated, in a news release, “At the time of the stop, the driver threw an object from out (of) the passenger side window which was observed by the officer. Upon checking the object thrown, it was a glass pipe used to smoke crystal methamphetamine.
“Upon conducting a search of the driver incidental to (the) arrest, a cigarette box containing crystal methamphetamine was located on his person.”
The suspect was booked into the CPPD jail on the traffic and felony drug charges.
The case was forwarded to the 15th Judicial District Attorneys Office for prosecution.
“This is the second time this individual has been caught (arrested) by the Church Point Police Department in the last few months,” Thibodeaux stated.
On March 19, Jillyn Amy, 32, of Eunice, was arrested on a charge of possession of crystal methamphetamine.
During the traffic stop, officers obtained a consensual search of the vehicle Amy was in.
Thibodeaux stated, “Upon searching the vehicle, a clear Zip Lock baggie containing crystal methamphetamine was located in a wallet in the vehicle. The suspect claimed the drugs were hers, and (she) was arrested and charged.”
The case was also forwarded to the 15th Judicial District Attorneys Office for prosecution.
