At approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 6, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle crash on La. 365 near Heinen Road in Acadia Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 78-year-old Ronald Lawson of Crowley.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed Lawson was driving a 2013 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic when he failed to negotiate a curve and exited the roadway. Lawson was ejected from the motorcycle upon entering the ditch.
Lawson, who was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
On April 10, State Police was notified that Lawson succumbed to injuries. Impairment is not suspected but standard toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
