Food delivery to students to begin

The St. Landry Parish School District will be partnering with The Healthy School Food Collaborative beginning this week.
St. Landry Parish School Superintendent said the school district has facilitated providing about 40,000 meals since schools were closed to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.
The meals to be provided beginning Monday require registration at emailmeform.com/builder/emf/thsfc/stlandryemergencymeals.
Meals will be delivered to the address that is provided in the registration form completed.
They will be provided with 20 shelf-stable meals per child (five breakfasts, five lunches, five snacks, and five suppers) for a one-week time span.
If anyone has trouble completing the form, they can contact the school principal.
Previously, the Three O’Clock Project assisted with meals and delivery. St. Landry Parish students were provided with a box of five shelf-staple breakfast items and five frozen meals. One box was given per one student. Students did not have to be present to pick up meals.
Meal sites included New Zion Baptist Church in Eunice.
Since March 23, Three O’Clock Project has delivered nearly 280,000 emergency meals to children in need in East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Acadiana, Plaquemines, St. Landry, Iberville and Assumption parishes. Additionally, Three O’Clock Project is now leading food service operations for several school districts that suspended service in the wake of COVID-19 closures.
To meet demand, Three O’Clock Project has hired more than 350 workers – many of whom work in the restaurant industry and would have otherwise been unemployed – to prepare and distribute more than 20,000 meals each day.
