A Mother's Day Parade at Eunice Manor

The Eunice City Marshals, Eunice Fire department trucks, Acadia and St. Landry Sheriff department, Eunice Police department, led hundreds of vehicles as they formed a line for a Mother’s Day Parade at Eunice Manor Nursing home Saturday morning.
Nickie Toups, adminstrator at Eunice Manor, wanted a special way to honor their mother residents. As Toups said, “We love all our residents, and this weekend we honor our mothers on Mother’s Day weekend with a special parade. We wanted to show them our love, respect and honor.”
Many participants in the parade were children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren of residents at Eunice Manor.
Some of Eunice High School graduating seniors participated in the parade. It was kind of a “Seniors greeting Seniors Day.” Tara LeBlanc, mother of a senior son Dustin LeBlanc, said, “Eunice High School seniors last day of school would have been May 7, and normally seniors take their own “ride” to school declaring their last day of high school. This morning they took their ride to Eunice Manor.”
Some participants cleverly decorated their vehicles with colorful handwritten Mother’s Day messages and some vehicles were accented with balloons.
Eunice Manor residents sat at a social distancing apart from each other and seemed to enjoy their parade. Most residents waved to the passerbys.
