Eunice Police Lt. Ryan Young said a call was received from Texas stating a female friend of his was being held against her will at a local hotel.
The caller provided an address that came back to the Best Western.
Police responded at about 3 p.m. Tuesday with few details, but the hotel staff said they too had been contacted by the Texas caller and were given the name of Neal Cullen Young, he said.
Police went to the second-floor room that Young had rented with a master key.
Right before knocking on the door, a female opened the door, he said. She and a dog exited the room. She told police she had brought clothes to a female and that there two individuals in the room.
Police knocked on the door, announced their presence and used the room key to open the door, but it was latched with a chain.
A female came to the door, unlatched the door and came outside. She stated there was a male in the bathroom.
Young said the male exited the bathroom with his hands in pockets and was asked to remove them from the pockets, Numerous empty plastic bags fell to the floor, he said.
A search was conducted for any other person in the room. While searching a trash can in the bathroom was knocked over. The contents intents drugs and money, he said.
The female said she had been assaulted in another state, robbed her and the male in the room had picked her up. She said the male had become belligerent with her and she called her friend in Texas, Young said.
She declined to file any formal charges, but due to the narcotics in plain view those items were seized along with other items in the room used in the packing and distribution of narcotics, he said.
