Trosclair among women honorees

Irma Trosclair, Lafayette Parish School System superintendent of schools and former Eunice principal, is among 10 women named by the United Way of Acadiana’s Women United.
Trosclair and the others will be presented the 2020 Women Who Mean Business Awards by Home Bank.
The event is in its third year and will be held virtually via United Way’s Facebook page from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9.
Trosclair worked with the Lafayette Parish School System starting in 2016 as its first school improvement administrator working with principals at Alice Boucher, J.W. Faulk and Carencro Heights elementary schools. Prior to that, she was principal at South Crowley Elementary School, recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2015 for closing the achievement gap, and spent 10 years at Eunice Elementary School, a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School honored for consistent high performance scores, where she was principal.
Others to receive the award are: Phyllis Coleman Mouton, Women of Wisdom (WOW), Trailblazer honoree; Tina Begnaud, St. Martin Tourist Information; Kalli Christ, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana; Dr. Melanie Fowler, orthodontist; Dr. Holly Howat, Beacon Community Connections; Anita Levy, The Levy Cancer Foundation; Amanda Case Logue, M.D., Oschner Lafayette General Health; Linda Peters, LA Cardiovascular and Limb Salvage Center; and Leigh Rachal, Acadiana Regional Coalition on Homelessness and Housing (ARCH).
“Each of these women has made an incredible impact in their own community, and I am honored that we will be able to honor them for their work,” said Carlee Alm-LaBar, President/CEO of United Way of Acadiana. “This group truly embodies what it means to be a Woman Who Mean Business, inspiring positive change within their own space.”
Women United chair Miriam Bourgeois added, “So many inspirational women were nominated, and we are eager to acknowledge these women’s accomplishments at this year’s event. Women United has a longstanding history of joining women together for the betterment of our communities, and we are thrilled to add these ten women to our ranks.”
