Rotary food drive is underway
The annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive sponsored by Super 1 Foods is here.
Eunice schools will collect canned goods for the drive from Monday through Dec. 14.
The Rotarians will pick up all canned goods from each school on Dec. 15.
Rotarians will plan to deliver food to needy famiies on Dec. 19.
The class at each school that has collected the most canned goods will be awarded with a pizza party, given by the Rotary.

Drive Thru COVID 19 testing Thursday
There will be a Drive Thru COVID 19 testing from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Eunice Health Unit Thursday.
The location is at 131 City Avenue, in Eunice.
For Covid Testing, pre-register at http://health.questdiagnostics.com/stlou. Results will be available online within 4-5 days. There is no cost for the COVID testing. Wear a mask. It is a self-administered nasal swab test.

Food Bank Food Drive set Thursday
The annual Food Bank Food Drive in Eunice is set from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10 at the Food Bank, located at 2101 West Ash, directly behind the DMV.
All food items are needed, canned goods, rice, sugar, boxed macaroni & cheese, toiletries, diapers, detergents, soap. Monetary donations are accepted as well.
The Eunice Food Bank is opened from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser for the city’s 125th anniversary.

The VFW Post 8971 will NOT hold Bingo due to Covid 19 restrictions.
VA van trips are available again
The Veterans Administration (VA) has started making van trips to the facilities, Tuesdays and Thursdays. One is asked to meet at the Eunice City Hall parking lot.

The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

Mt. Olive Cemetery volunteers needed
Families of the Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 1199 E. Ardoin (on Old Crowley Road), are in dire need of volunteers for lawn maintenance, grass mowing, and up keep of the cemetery. It is a public cemetery, established many years ago.
Family members of families buried at this cemetery are asked to help in the upkeep.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
