EUNICE–It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roger Lee “Yogi” Hollier announces his passing on Sunday, March 7, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Hampton Davis, celebrant.
Roger, known to many as “Yogi” served his country proudly in the United States Army and retired after 53 years at the auto part store. He was a life -long resident of Eunice as well as a faithful and devoted parishioner to St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a eucharistic minister. He was active with the Lion’s Club and St. Edmund School. In addition to this, he loved to fish, dance, listen to French music and watch LSU Sports. But most of all he loved his family and spending time with them brought a great deal of joy to his life especially coaching his kids in baseball and softball. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his seven children, Gary Hollier and wife, Carolyn of Jarreau, Floyd Hollier of Glen Allen, VA, Lloyd Hollier and wife, Dana of Eunice, Wendell Hollier and wife, Lisa of Manakin Sabot, VA; Renee Baudin and husband, Chris of Jennings, Amy Langley and husband, Keith of Lake Charles and Ann Johnson and husband, J.J. of Jarreau; his nineteen grandchildren, Callie, Hayley, John Raymond, Michael, Tori, Steven, Shelly, Keri, Blake, Cole, Christopher, Samuel, Rebecca, Matthew, Alicia, Jackson, Jeslyn, Katilyn , Wyatt and eleven great grandchildren; his companion, Shirley Olivier.
He is preceded in death by his wife, of sixty- three years, Wilda G. Hollier, son Steven Hollier; great grand- daughter, Collins Baudin; parents, Eluis and Amy Guillory Hollier; siblings, Jacquline Hollier, Herland Hollier and Barbara Israel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, March 10 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 11 from 8 a.m. until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will lead a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
