LSUE forum features local women
LSU Eunice is set to hold another edition of its “Courageous Conversations” series at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Science Building Auditorium.
The forum will be dedicated to Women’s History Month with the discussion entitled “Honoring Courageous Women In Our Local Community.”
The ‘Courageous Conversations’ series is sponsored by The Chancellor’s Office and LSUE’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Panelists for the event will be Vice President of JD Bank Kitty Jo Deshotels, CASA St. Landry-Evangeline Executive Director Madelyn Rosette and LSU Eunice student/entrepreneur Felicity Carriere. The discussion will focus on the value of higher education for women, women’s impact through community service and some of the challenges that women face in the business world.

CDA meeting set for April 5
The Catholic Daughters of Americas (CDA) will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. April 5 at the Jeanmard Center.
Members are asked to bring a canned good to continue to make donations to the Eunice Food Bank.
All Catholic women over 18 are invited to check out this charitable organization.

Help programs ongoing at First Baptist
Two programs are ongoing at the First Baptist Church of Eunice Fellowship Hall.
Grief Share meets on Sundays through May 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. with new material every week.
Single and Parenting meets on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. through May 19 also with new material each session.
Activities for children of all ages is available.

VFW bingo Thursday & Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 will hold Bingo. The public is invited each Thursday and Sunday at 7 p.m. to play Bingo at the VFW Hall located on Hwy. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
There will be a New game offered.
The VFW Hall doors open at 4 p.m.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser for the city’s 125th anniversary.
Anyone wishing to buy a book is asked to call 337-457-7389, extension 1, or 337-305-3672.

VA van trips are available again
The Veterans Administration (VA) has started making van trips to the facilities, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Riders are asked to meet at the Eunice City Hall parking lot.

Vet organizations seek members
The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
