The battle for the upperhand in Eunice Mens Tennis League competition tightened up as teams Eckholdt and Moosa are tied midway through the spring season.
After six weeks, Team Eckholdt an Team Moosa are even with 27 points each, followed by Team Ashford (23) and Team D’Aubin (11).
Team Eckholdt forced the tie with a 9-3 win over Team D’Aubin.
On Court One, Team Eckholdt’s Chris Gaspard and Rodney Sonnier earned a 6-3, 7-6 win over Team D’Aubin’s Darryl Carrier and Terry Hoychick.
On Court Two, team captain Scott Eckholdt and Terry Brown grabbed a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Team D’Aubin’s Scott Manuel and Ernie Goleman.
On Court Three, team captain Darren D’Aubin and Kai Matte battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 split set win over Team Eckholdt’s Jacque Pucheu and Philippe Soileau.
On Court Four, Team Eckholdt’s Pearson Brown and John Pucheu earned a 7-6, 0-6, 10-8 split set win over Team D’Aubin’s Chip Thibodeaux and Lance Pitre.
On Court Five, Team Eckholdt’s Rodney Sonnier and Jeff Bruner rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Team D’Aubin’s Steve Dischler and Dan Fontenot.
In other tennis action, Team Ashford earned a 7-5 victory over Team Moosa.
On Court One, Team Ashford’s Chris Ardoin and John Phil Fontenot grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win over Team Moosa’s Sam Andrus and Zac Joubert.
On Court Two, team captain Dustin Ashford and Paul Brown earned a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 split set win over Team Moosa’s John Fruge and Keith Fontenot.
On Court Three, team captain Steven Moosa and Kane Fontenot battled to a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 split set win over Team Ashford’s Robby Brown and Deacon Richard.
On Court Four, Team Ashford’s Lance Pitre and Mike Conner grabbed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Team Moosa’s Ken Pitre and Wayne Miller.
On Court Five, Team Moosa’s Chris Guillory and Kirk Young earned a 6-3 6-1 win over Team Ashford’s Charles Barbier and Quade Fontenot.
