The sixth annual Parade of Paws parade was held Saturday at 3 p.m. on downtown South 2nd.
Organizer and event planner Jerica Guillory held registration in front of Beaucoup on S. 2nd for the event before the parade began. There were 37 entries.
All canines were dressed in Mardi Gras attire and costumes. Three judges were on hand before the parade began to judge for winners. There were first, second and third placements awarded at the conclusion of the short route parade. There were ribbons also awarded for the Best Creative, Cajun Classic, and the Most Unpredictable.
Proceeds from the event went to running the parade, prizes, and as well as to local shelters and rescues.
Winning first place was Remi, a female 3-year-old Maltese. Owner is Leslie Fontenot. Second placement went to Jeffery, a 1-year-old Rat Terrier. Owners are Dr. Tim and Greta Fontenot, and third place was awarded to Valentine, a 2-year-old mix poodle chihuahua breed. Owners are Hannah and Jordan Vidrine.
