School closures left off agenda, but draws an energetic crowd

For two weeks the St. Landry Parish School Board has discussed consolidating and closing schools, but Thursday the issue was left off the agenda.
Instead, the Board heard comments from about 25 people overwhelmingly opposed to the closing of elementary schools in Palmetto, Washington and Grand Prairie.
Those comments came during a retreat session where the Board does not take action.
