Housing prisoners is an ongoing cost to St. Landry Parish Government that is eroding finances, said Parish President Jessie Bellard in talking to Eunice Rotarians.
“Those inmates are costing us roughly $2 million a year,” he said at the Wednesday meeting.
Each prisoner costs parish government $18 a day and that’s up from $14, he said.
