École Saint-Landry, a French immersion school in Sunset, is in the former Baptist Church. The school’s charter is for grades kindergarten to fifth, but it is asking for approval for up to eighth grade.
St. Landry Parish’s only French immersion school is asking the St. Landry Parish School Board to expand its charter from kindergarten to fifth grade to eighth grade.
School administrator Lindsey Smythe said going from K-5 to K-8 is needed to help obtain financing for a planned renovation of the old Sunset High School building planned to begin this summer.
